Vitamins & supplements · Your questions

A little clarity.
A more confident choice.

From quality and storage to shopping an existing protocol, here are the details that help you choose thoughtfully.

Choosing quality

How do I find high quality supplements?

Look for clear ingredient amounts, a manufacturer with documented quality controls, appropriate testing, and a trustworthy seller. Read the actual Supplement Facts panel and check certifications relevant to your needs. A higher price or a “professional” label alone is not proof of quality.

How do I know where to purchase them?

Buy from the manufacturer, an authorized retailer, or an established professional dispensary. Shopping links here open Dr. Burklund’s Fullscript dispensary, where you can check the exact product, current label, price, and stock before ordering.

Why does Dr. Burklund use Fullscript?

It brings the brands she trusts and uses in her protocols into one place. Fullscript reviews brand manufacturing and quality documentation and manages storage, fulfillment, and recalls. Learn more in Fullscript’s quality assurance overview.

Is every supplement independently tested?

Testing and certifications differ by product. Fullscript’s Enhanced testing badge identifies products independently tested from warehouse stock for potency and purity. Check the specific listing; do not assume that every product has the same certification. Understand Fullscript’s quality badges.

Are these the brands Dr. Burklund uses in her own protocols?

Yes. The Apothecary brings together brands she trusts, supplements she uses in her protocols, and laboratory tests she uses in her clinic. The Edits explain her approach and the considerations behind individual selections.

Does a trusted brand mean every product is right for me?

No. Quality and suitability are different questions. Match the ingredient, form, dose, allergens, and intended use to your individual care plan. Your medications, medical history, and other supplements also matter.

Expiration, storage & shipping

Will my supplements arrive within their expiration date?

Fullscript currently guarantees at least 90 days of shelf life and removes products below that threshold from distribution. Check the date when your order arrives; contact Fullscript if it does not meet that policy. Read the shelf life guarantee.

Is the date on the bottle an expiration date or a manufacture date?

Some labels use EXP or “best before”; others show MFG or DOM, meaning the manufacture date. If the meaning is unclear, ask Fullscript or the manufacturer to confirm it rather than guessing.

How are supplements stored before they reach me?

Fullscript uses temperature controlled storage for shelf stable products and refrigerated storage for products that require it, following manufacturer handling instructions. Its quality program also covers distribution and product handling. Read about storage standards.

How should I store them at home?

Follow the bottle’s instructions. Keep containers closed and away from heat, humidity, and direct sunlight. Bring deliveries indoors promptly. Refrigerate when the label requires it; not every probiotic needs refrigeration. Storage and heat sensitive products.

What if a package arrives warm, damaged, or with a broken seal?

Do not use a product with a broken safety seal or visible damage. Contact Fullscript with the order information and product details. For a warm delivery, request guidance for that specific product; the temperature of a cold pack alone does not establish whether the contents are usable.

Will a supplement stay potent beyond its expiration date?

Do not rely on potency beyond the manufacturer’s stated shelf life. Follow the label and ask the manufacturer about an uncertain date or storage exposure. Buying a large supply only makes sense if you can use and store it as directed.

Function Health & your existing protocol

Can I use this store alongside my Function Health labs?

Yes. You can shop here for supplements recommended in your care plan after testing through Function Health or another service. Your results still need to be considered with your health history and current treatment; this store does not interpret or import your Function Health results.

Function Health gave me a protocol. Can I order the supplements here?

Yes, you can order supplements from that protocol through Dr. Burklund’s Fullscript dispensary when the products are available. Search by the exact brand and product, then match the ingredient form, strength, serving size, and directions before checkout. Find your supplements on Fullscript .

What if the exact product in my protocol is not available?

Ask the clinician overseeing your plan before choosing a substitute. Similar names do not always mean the same formula, dose, or preparation. Availability can change, and not every brand or product is carried in this dispensary.

Does my Function Health protocol automatically transfer here?

No. Bring your recommendation list with you and locate the products in the dispensary. This website does not connect to your Function Health account, upload your results, or automatically change your protocol.

Is The Natural Doctor Apothecary affiliated with Function Health?

This is Dr. Michele Burklund’s independent supplement storefront. Function Health is mentioned to explain how customers can shop for products in an existing plan; no partnership or endorsement is implied. Read Function Health’s supplement guide.

Ordering, labs & getting started

How do I place an order?

Choose “Shop this supplement” or “Shop the collection” to open Fullscript. Sign in or create an account there, review the products and total, then complete checkout. Fullscript manages payment, fulfillment, order confirmation, and shipping.

What discount do I receive?

You receive 10% off your first supplement order and 5% off future supplement orders through Dr. Burklund’s dispensary. Review the discount shown in Fullscript before completing your order. This offer is for supplements; it does not describe lab test pricing.

Can I buy a product that is not featured in an Edit?

Yes. Open the Fullscript dispensary to search its available catalog. The Edits are curated starting points; product availability and any purchasing requirements are shown in Fullscript.

Can I order the lab tests Dr. Burklund uses?

Yes. Visit the full Lab Edits to learn what each test measures, how samples are collected, and how to order through her Fullscript lab shop. Test availability and ordering eligibility vary by location and test.

Should I order every test or take every supplement in a collection?

No. The collections explain options, not a requirement to buy a complete list. Select tests that answer a relevant clinical question and supplements that fit your individual plan.

Where should I begin before buying supplements or starting a protocol?

Begin with The Foundations, Dr. Burklund’s free course. Its 16 original audio lessons and 14 downloadable PDF guides explore the everyday practices that support your health. It is free, self paced, and available without a purchase.

Do I need to become a patient to browse the store?

You can explore the educational Edits and shopping links without booking a consultation. Browsing or purchasing does not create a physician, patient relationship. Fullscript displays its account and ordering requirements.

Who helps with shipping, returns, or an order problem?

Use the support options in your Fullscript account or order confirmation. Fullscript handles order service and returns under its current policy. Keep the product packaging and order information until a concern is resolved.
